The Inauguration of Elemental Focus Web Design

On Monday January 08, 2007 Elemental Focus was launched in front of a roaring crowd, full of cheering and applause. The audience was screaming, women fainted, and grown men wept as I posted my first article on ElementalFocus.com. Not since the landing of Apollo 11 had so many people gathered to watch a single event.

Sweating under the hot stage lights I delivered my heartfelt thanks to those that made this possible. As flowers were thrown at my feet I delivered a stirring speech to the masses. The single greatest moment of the 21st century had just come to pass.

At least that’s the way I remember it. And since I was the only one there, who is going to say anything different?

My name is Aaron Bobrink. I am a professional web site designer and I love my job. I design and build web sites and Elemental Focus is my way of doing it.

The Past

For years I have been working (as an employee) on company sites as a web programmer only. I was left out of the planning process and very rarely was I allowed any sort of creative freedom. After three years in the government and two years in the banking industry I decided that enough was enough. After seeing numerous poor decisions and having little or no voice to change them, it was time for me to move on. I wanted to be able to improve the web through good design practices with an emphasis on the users.

The Present

Elemental Focus is a web site design company dedicated to creating unique, appealing, and easy to use web sites. I have seen, and even worked, on web sites that got in the way more than helped their users. For years web sites have been developed in a backwards manner that hinders their use.

Fortunately these poor design practices have started to change. With the widespread support of CSS and XHTML, the web can finally be designed to work well across multiple platforms, browsers, and even devices.

The Future

The internet is becoming more accessible by the day. The web is no longer tied to those who own computers. Cell phones and other handheld devices are quickly gaining popularity as internet access points. Thanks to the internet, the geographic footprint of one person or business is rapidly expanding and all over the world individual voices are being heard through personal and company blogs.
